[BBGCD] Chapter 4

After loading another truckload of firewood into his spatial storage, Su Jiao drove back toward the city.

On a quiet stretch of road without surveillance cameras, he checked that there were no other vehicles nearby before transferring all the canned goods into his space.

A considerable amount of supplies had accumulated over the past two days. Everything inside the space was piled up in a disorderly mess, with some items even scattered across the farmland on the second floor.

Su Jiao wanted to organize everything properly. It would make room for more supplies and save him the trouble of searching for things later.

Unfortunately, his current abilities weren't up to the task.

As he continued driving, he passed a fairly large village. He slowed down and eventually stopped in front of a house near the roadside.

An elderly woman was sitting in the courtyard, enjoying the sunshine.

Su Jiao rolled down the window and called out.

"Grandma, do you have any chickens, ducks, cows, or sheep for sale? Or do you know anyone nearby who might be selling them?"

The elderly woman appeared to be in good health. Her eyes frequently wandered toward Su Jiao's striking golden hair, but there was nothing particularly unusual about her expression.

"We do have some, although not many. Are you interested?"

She paused thoughtfully before continuing.

"There are also some piglets available. But they're all raised on commercial feed. They aren't very big yet, and the prices might be higher than you expect."

Even so, livestock raised on commercial feed was generally more expensive than animals raised traditionally in rural households.

Most villagers weren't particularly willing to sell their livestock, either. Fortunately, the elderly woman had a relative who was selling some animals because of financial difficulties.

They had already sold quite a few animals a few days earlier. If Su Jiao had arrived two days later, he might not have been able to buy anything at all.

Su Jiao thought for a moment.

"Could you help me get two breeding pairs of each? Do you have that many available?"

The elderly woman smiled.

"Young man, are you planning to raise them yourself at home?"

Su Jiao got out of the car and answered somewhat sheepishly.

"That's right. My family wants to become more self-sufficient."

"Well, it seems nobody at home has taught you much about raising livestock."

The elderly woman waved him over, motioning for him to come closer.

"Listen, you don't need a pair of every animal. One male and several females are enough, especially when it comes to pigs. You don't want too many males, or the meat won't taste as good."

Su Jiao blinked and crouched beside her.

"Then, Grandma, could you recommend how many I should get? I don't need too many. Just enough to provide food for the family throughout the year."

The elderly woman was delighted to see a young man willing to listen to her advice.

"Chickens and ducks are easy to raise. You can wait until the temperature reaches around ten degrees next year before letting the hens start brooding. They can hatch more than a dozen chicks in a year, so you don't need to buy many."

"As for pigs, cattle, and sheep, you'll need a few more. Is your land large?"

Su Jiao thought about the separate compartments he had planned for livestock in his spatial storage.

"Not particularly. There's a designated area for raising them, but I can't let them roam around freely."

The farmland on the second floor would provide enough room for them to move about, but he still needed to reserve most of it for growing vegetables.

"Oh, by the way, Grandma, do you know anyone who sells fruit trees? I'd be happy to pay you a little extra for helping me arrange it."

The elderly woman waved her hand.

"Now, now. There's no need to pay me any introduction fee. What kind of fruit trees are you looking for? I'll ask around."

"I'm not particular about the varieties. As long as they produce fruit, that's fine."

After the extreme cold arrived, having fresh fruit would become difficult. Even finding enough fruit to eat would be a luxury.

The elderly woman thought for a moment, then took out her phone to confirm the quantities of livestock and fruit trees she could arrange.

She showed the information to Su Jiao.

"Here, young man. Take a look. Would this many be enough?"

Su Jiao glanced over the figures and nodded.

The elderly woman sent a few messages. It wasn't long before someone arrived with the animals.

The chickens and ducks came in cages, while the piglets, calves, and lambs were brought separately.

As soon as the seller arrived, he greeted the elderly woman warmly.

"Uncle!"

The man seemed rather impatient. After exchanging a few words with her, he immediately started discussing payment.

Seeing how eager he was to complete the transaction, Su Jiao didn't waste time negotiating. He paid the man directly and asked him to help load the animals into the van.

Fortunately, all the animals were still young. Although the van wasn't particularly large, they didn't take up too much room.

While the livestock was being loaded, the fruit tree seller arrived as well.

"These are all young saplings. They haven't fully matured yet, but they'll start bearing fruit next year. My trees are well known around here. As long as the weather holds up, you can always come back to me."

The man spoke with great confidence.

Su Jiao listened and felt rather uneasy.

Weather holds up?

There wouldn't even be two days left before the disaster began, let alone enough time to wait for the Spring Festival.

After everything had been loaded, Su Jiao thanked the elderly woman and took out several hundred-yuan banknotes to give her as a token of appreciation.

She initially tried to refuse, but he insisted.

On the way back, Su Jiao transferred everything in the cargo compartment into his spatial storage.

This time, he deliberately placed the livestock on the farmland on the second floor. That way, they wouldn't accidentally bite or damage the supplies stored on the first floor if they became hungry.

Even temporarily arranging the animals inside the space consumed a considerable amount of mental energy.

Su Jiao rested in the car for a while before continuing toward the timber factory.

Another load of scrap timber was waiting for him there.

After purchasing and transferring the wood, Su Jiao calculated how much money he had left.

He decided it was time to buy some coal as well.

Burning coal was dangerous, but relying entirely on firewood would consume too much. Once the temperature dropped further, the daily demand for heating would become enormous.

Fortunately, coal was still relatively inexpensive. Since it was summer, a large sack cost only around two hundred yuan.

Su Jiao purchased 30,000 yuan worth of coal and transferred everything into his spatial storage.

At this point, his available funds were almost exhausted.

Leaning back in the driver's seat, Su Jiao took several deep breaths.

He opened the various apps on his phone and began checking whether there was anything else he needed to purchase.

There were so many products available online. After living through the Age of Extreme Cold for so many years, he had forgotten the existence of many ordinary household items.

Over the past few days, he had simply bought whatever caught his attention. Sometimes, he wasn't even sure whether he would actually need the things he ordered.

Still, he had gradually become more familiar with the process, and there weren't many things left to purchase.

It was almost one in the afternoon.

Su Jiao quickly drove toward the warehouse.

Same-city deliveries usually arrived earlier than other shipments. It would be better to get there ahead of time and wait.

As soon as he pulled up in front of the warehouse, he spotted a courier unloading packages from his vehicle.

Su Jiao parked and walked over.

"Hello. Are these all deliveries for Mr. Su?"

The courier looked up, momentarily confused.

"Ah, yes. Are you Mr. Su?"

Su Jiao glanced at the packages in his hands. There was also a considerable pile scattered across the ground.

"Are all of these mine?"

Seeing his confusion, the courier became equally puzzled. He took out his phone and carefully checked the delivery list before nodding.

"Yes. Everything in this vehicle is yours. There are also some packages scheduled to arrive around three o'clock. Is that a problem?"

"Oh, no. No problem at all."

Su Jiao scratched his head, quickly unlocked the warehouse, and began moving the packages inside.

There were so many deliveries that by the time he had finished unloading everything, sweat was already running down his back.

He casually switched on the air conditioner, ordered some lunch through his phone, and began opening the packages.

He started with several of the larger boxes, setting aside two empty cartons before moving on to the smaller parcels.

The grain and seed deliveries weren't particularly large, so he placed them all in one big box. The household necessities went into another.

Unpacking packages was surprisingly satisfying, even after all these years.

Su Jiao was still busy opening his deliveries when the courier interrupted him again.

Today's lunch was pork trotter rice.

He treated himself to a hearty meal, then returned to sorting through the packages without wasting any time.

After three o'clock, the courier's second vehicle arrived.

Su Jiao continued unpacking and even had dinner in the warehouse.

He remained busy until five, almost six in the evening.

When he finally checked his phone, he discovered that another batch of packages was scheduled to arrive at seven.

He wasn't in a hurry to go home.

First, he returned the rental van and drove his own car back to the warehouse.

He burned the shipping labels and other documents containing his personal information. Then he flattened the empty cardboard boxes and transferred them into his spatial storage.

He also gathered all the rubbish from the plastic packaging and discarded it properly.

The final batch of deliveries arriving at seven wasn't particularly large in number, but the packages themselves were quite bulky.

Su Jiao checked their contents one by one before transferring everything into his space.

Only then did he finally drive home.

It was already quite late when he arrived.

After taking a shower, Su Jiao collapsed into bed and fell asleep almost immediately.

The following morning, Su Jiao woke up without any clear idea of what he had been dreaming about.

He spent the morning making two trips to the timber factory. He also stopped by the grain market and purchased additional rice, flour, grains, and cooking oil from another shop.

Once his remaining funds had fallen to around 100,000 yuan, he added a few more same-city products to his shopping cart, placed the orders, and returned to the warehouse to wait for the deliveries.

With so little money left, Su Jiao spent a long time collecting the remaining packages.

By the time September 19 arrived, he reviewed his plans and realized that there wasn't much left to do.

The only thing remaining was to wait for the final batch of large deliveries at the warehouse.

For once, he decided not to rush out of bed.

He stayed beneath the covers for quite a while, lazily watching a few videos on his phone before finally getting up to prepare himself a hearty breakfast.

Only after eating did he slowly head out.

Today was the main delivery day.

Beginning at ten in the morning, Su Jiao spent the entire day collecting packages.

He didn't finish until seven or eight in the evening.

After confirming online that the final shipment had arrived, he stretched his arms high above his head.

A series of cracking sounds came from his joints as he moved.

He yawned and stopped by a barbecue shop on his way home. He bought more than three hundred yuan worth of barbecue and two bottles of beer.

Today was the last day of peace.

Su Jiao wanted to enjoy one proper meal before everything changed.

Tomorrow, at three in the afternoon, ordinary life would come to an end.

As he closed the courtyard gate behind him, an unexpected feeling of melancholy settled over his heart.

He had only been back for a few days. He had spent almost every waking moment rushing around, with hardly any time to rest.

Yet somehow, he had already grown reluctant to leave this peaceful world behind.

If only the extreme cold never came.

Even if he couldn't use all the supplies he had painstakingly collected, he would still be perfectly content.

Su Jiao carried the barbecue into the living room and placed it on the table.

He switched on the television and randomly selected a program that didn't require a subscription.

Soon, he was completely absorbed in his food.

A mouthful of barbecue, followed by a sip of beer.

It was absolutely delicious!

There was quite a lot of food, but by the time Su Jiao finished eating, he still didn't feel full.

He ordered fried chicken and several other kinds of fried food online, thinking that even if he couldn't finish everything, he could simply store the leftovers in his space.

And then...

The food on the table disappeared once again.

Su Jiao looked at the pile of rubbish beside him and fell silent for two seconds.

Only then did he notice something strange.

He immediately checked his spatial storage.

Ever since his rebirth, there had always been a strong barrier separating him from the space. But now, a large amount of mixed energy was surging inside it.

The sluggishness that had previously prevented him from controlling the space precisely had disappeared completely.

With a single thought, Su Jiao moved a pile of firewood into the storage room he had designated earlier.

Even more astonishingly, the wood arranged itself neatly inside.

Su Jiao froze.

His mind was in complete disarray.

This was beyond anything he had been capable of in his previous life.

Even after spending so many years in the Age of Natural Disasters, he had only managed to establish an entrance to his spatial storage within a physical object.

As for controlling the contents from outside, he could only move and organize things slowly, one item at a time.

Although the process wasn't particularly exhausting, it had always been extremely inconvenient.

But now...

Su Jiao blinked, staring at his vague reflection on the television screen.

His eyes were filled with confusion.

He pinched his thigh.

The sharp pain immediately brought him back to his senses.

[BBGCD] Chapter 3

After making another trip to the timber factory and filling the van with a fresh load of firewood, Su Jiao transferred everything into his spatial storage. He then returned the rental van and switched back to his own car before heading home.

After spending the entire day running around, Su Jiao had no intention of cooking for himself. He ordered takeout through his phone and settled down in the living room to browse some doomsday survival guides on his computer.

Before the apocalypse had actually arrived, people in peaceful society had often discussed the subject. Novels, movies, and television dramas featuring various doomsday scenarios had appeared one after another.

There were even people who called themselves doomsday preppers, purchasing all sorts of supplies based on their predictions of an impending catastrophe.

Most of them were probably just playing at being prepared, like someone who claimed to love dragons but was terrified of seeing a real one. Still, Su Jiao had to admit that when the apocalypse actually came, those preparations gave many of them a significant advantage in surviving.

There were countless doomsday survival guides online. Some of them were so ridiculous that even Su Jiao, who had personally lived through the disaster, couldn't help laughing. Others were simply unsuitable for the future conditions of extreme cold.

Nevertheless, there were still a few useful suggestions worth considering.

Su Jiao didn't know everything about survival, even with his previous experience. He could still learn something from the information available online.

He took a pen and paper and began writing down the useful points one by one.

It had been many years since he last held a pen for any length of time. Yet when he picked one up again, his hand moved quite naturally. Perhaps it was because his body had returned to its younger state.

He hadn't finished recording everything when the delivery arrived.

Su Jiao went out to collect his food and hurried back to the living room. He couldn't wait to open the takeaway container.

A strong, unmistakable stench escaped as soon as the lid came off.

Snail rice noodles!

Su Jiao swallowed in anticipation. He poured the broth into the noodles, stirred everything together with his chopsticks, and picked up a mouthful.

The distinctive smell of snail rice noodles made his already hungry stomach rumble even louder.

The noodles had just come out of the pot and were considerably hotter than the ones he had eaten at noon. Su Jiao scalded his tongue and had to force himself to slow down.

After waiting for them to cool, he cautiously brought another mouthful to his lips.

After so many years of hardship, his teeth had somehow become more delicate again. Even though he had already blown on the noodles for quite a while, biting into them still felt a little uncomfortable.

For the first time, Su Jiao realized just how pampered he must have been before the apocalypse.

No wonder Gu Lingye had disliked him so much at the beginning of their previous life.

Su Jiao, who had spent twenty or thirty years living rough, could only sigh and continue blowing on his noodles.

The mouthwatering smell of snail rice noodles was making his appetite unbearable.

His stomach kept reminding him to hurry up and eat. However, unlike at lunchtime, he wasn't so desperately hungry that he could ignore how hot the food was and shove it straight into his mouth.

Thinking back to the two bowls of noodles he had eaten earlier, Su Jiao suddenly realized that his mouth had probably been scalded in several places.

It was strange. He hadn't noticed anything at the time, but now that he thought about it, everything seemed to hurt.

The realization made him feel rather irritated.

Fortunately, the delicious taste of the snail rice noodles soon distracted him from the discomfort. He took several mouthfuls in succession, finally easing the hunger in his stomach.

While eating, Su Jiao picked up his phone and started browsing the shopping apps again.

When he had first been reborn, there had been only a handful of things he could immediately think of. Now, as he ate, more and more ideas kept coming to him.

There were countless varieties of instant food available these days. Since he still had money, he might as well stock up on more and store them in his space. That way, he could enjoy a more varied diet in the future.

Su Jiao added all sorts of food to his shopping cart.

Apart from instant meals, he also picked out various snacks recommended on the homepage, along with sauces for mixing with rice. Nuts, spicy biscuits, and other snacks soon joined the growing list.

He continued adding things until the shopping cart was nearly two-thirds full before finally stopping.

After finishing his bowl of snail rice noodles, Su Jiao leaned back against the sofa and began searching for specific supplies.

His spatial ability was rather special, but the temperature inside the space was only slightly higher than that of the outside world.

Otherwise, he could have grown crops inside without so much difficulty. His previous life might have been very different, and Brother Gu might not have met with an accident while searching for food.

Su Jiao took a deep breath and searched online for information about greenhouses.

Greenhouses were relatively common in the northern regions, where large stretches of land were available. If he wanted to purchase a good-quality greenhouse suitable for long-term use, it would probably be better to buy one from the north.

However, there wasn't much time left.

For now, Su Jiao wanted to see what he could purchase online. Even if the quality wasn't particularly good, he could simply buy several units and replace them whenever necessary.

After making a note of everything he needed, he opened the shopping app and started searching.

To his surprise, there were quite a few greenhouses available online.

Su Jiao compared several products and eventually selected three or four different models. Considering the available land inside his spatial storage, he ordered two of each.

When communicating with the sellers, he declined their installation service and instead requested installation manuals.

Once the greenhouse orders were settled, Su Jiao tilted his head back and tried to think of anything else he might have forgotten.

Most of the supplies needed for his spatial storage had been arranged. As for the first floor, he could wait until the extreme cold arrived and transfer some of the empty rooms in his house into the space.

He had food and clothing.

What about water?

Su Jiao sat up a little straighter, found a local supplier, and ordered twenty or thirty large water containers.

He could fill them in advance. There was no need to worry too much about running out of water, at least until the warm season arrived the following year, when he could refill them.

Drinking water was another necessity he had to prepare.

After finishing his search, Su Jiao rolled over on the sofa and lay on his stomach, holding his phone while facing the backrest.

Was there really nothing else he needed to buy?

He opened a short-video app and began watching random clips absentmindedly.

One of the videos showed farmers working in a field.

Su Jiao suddenly sat upright.

Right! There was something else he had forgotten.

He needed all sorts of tools. The more, the better.

Once the Age of Natural Disasters arrived, even ordinary tools might have to be purchased with food.

And there was something else...

In his previous life, Su Jiao hadn't joined the large groups of survivors for various reasons. He had never really experienced the market conditions in the gathering areas.

He had plenty of supplies now, so he should keep some extra items that might prove useful for future emergencies.

There were all sorts of things that could come in handy. Su Jiao didn't even bother considering whether he would actually need them after the disaster. He simply ordered several of the products recommended on the homepage.

He made a point of selecting sellers located in the same city or province whenever possible, since those deliveries would arrive sooner.

Was there really nothing else left to buy?

Su Jiao stared blankly at his phone again.

After another ten or twenty minutes, he still couldn't think of anything else that he needed in large quantities but hadn't already purchased.

Since he couldn't come up with anything, he simply opened the household supplies section of the shopping app and browsed the recommendations.

That was when the floodgates of his memory opened.

Tissues and toilet paper. Various cleaning products for personal hygiene. Laundry detergent, bleach, dishwashing liquid, and countless other household necessities.

There were also different kinds of skincare creams to prevent his skin from drying out and cracking during the long winter.

The sheer variety of products left him dazzled.

As he added things to his shopping cart, more ideas kept popping into his head. Before long, he was searching for completely unrelated items and adding those as well.

The shopping cart quickly filled up again.

Su Jiao had no choice but to complete the purchases, clearing roughly one-third of the cart before continuing to shop.

Fortunately, most of these products were commonly used household items with reasonable prices.

After clearing out two or three shopping carts' worth of supplies, he had spent only a little over 10,000 yuan.

Including the large quantity of snacks he had purchased earlier, his total spending that evening came to another 70,000 to 80,000 yuan.

His remaining funds had now fallen below 300,000 yuan.

Su Jiao took a deep breath, tidied up the living room, and finally returned to the second-floor bedroom to sleep.

The following morning, Su Jiao woke up as soon as the first sunlight appeared in the sky.

He stared blankly at the ceiling for a while.

The events of the previous day, beginning with his rebirth and everything that had followed, replayed in his mind.

Su Jiao casually swept his messy golden hair behind his head. His delicate, pale feet stepped onto the thick carpet beside the bed, the soft fibers brushing between his toes.

He walked barefoot into the bathroom to wash his face. By the time he finished, his mind had finally cleared.

A chill crept up from the soles of his feet, gradually spreading through his body.

Despite having spent so many years living in the cold during his previous life, he had become surprisingly sensitive to low temperatures.

He quickly turned around and put on his shoes.

Picking up the phone from the bedside table, Su Jiao checked the time.

It was only a little past six in the morning.

Since it was summer, the sky was already bright.

He yawned and headed downstairs to the kitchen.

There wasn't much food left in the kitchen. Beneath the cabinet was some leftover rice, while the refrigerator contained a plate of eggs and a few peppers.

Su Jiao stared at the eggs for a while.

He suddenly thought about raising livestock.

Chickens, ducks, cows, sheep...

He might as well prepare some of them in advance. The first floor of his spatial storage was divided into separate rooms, so as long as he kept the animals confined, their smell wouldn't spread everywhere.

He could even use one of the smaller rooms as a composting area. The resulting fertilizer could then be used directly for the crops growing on the second floor.

Once the idea entered his mind, it seemed to take root. He couldn't get rid of it.

Su Jiao turned on the gas stove and prepared scrambled eggs with chili peppers.

After finishing the dish, he suddenly realized that he hadn't cooked any rice.

Su Jiao: ...

Cooking rice separately would be a hassle.

He poured the scrambled eggs back into the pan, added two bowls of water, and turned on the stove again.

While waiting for the water to boil, he rummaged through the cupboard and found a packet of dried noodles.

Once the water started bubbling, he dropped the noodles into the pot.

While they cooked, Su Jiao picked up his phone and began looking for information about nearby villages.

He didn't need too many chickens, ducks, cows, or sheep. He could simply visit a nearby village and buy them directly.

Afterward, he could transfer them into his spatial storage and raise them there.

He could even buy a couple of pairs of pigs. Pork was still delicious, after all.

Su Jiao browsed for quite a while. By the time he finally looked up, the broth in the pot had thickened and the noodles had become very soft.

He scooped them out and prepared to eat.

This was a habit he had developed during his previous life.

During the Age of Extreme Cold, staple foods were not easy to come by. Even merchants traveling between settlements rarely had much flour or noodles to sell.

Whenever he wanted something different to eat, he would take a small handful of noodles and cook them until the broth became thick.

That way, even the soup could fill his stomach and keep hunger at bay for a little longer.

After finishing the bowl of noodles, Su Jiao carefully drank the remaining broth.

He cleaned up the kitchen, grabbed his keys, and drove out.

It was a little past seven when he left the house.

His first stop was the car rental shop, where he returned the previous day's van and rented it again.

From there, he slowly made his way toward a canning factory on the outskirts of the city.

While surveying the factories around City H the previous day, he had taken note of several places that might be useful.

At the time, he had wanted to prioritize the most essential supplies before returning to the timber factory.

Now that he had purchased most of what he needed, he wanted to see what the canning factory had to offer.

He planned to buy a large quantity of canned food and store it in his space. Fruits were particularly important, as they would provide him with additional nutrients in the future.

The canning factory was considerably farther from his residential community. By the time he arrived, two or three hours had passed.

Fortunately, he had contacted the manager in charge of marketing in advance.

As soon as he got out of the van, someone approached and handed him a list of the factory's products.

"Hello. My surname is Wang. Just call me Brother Wang."

The man, who looked to be in his thirties, handed Su Jiao the paper and pen he had prepared.

"Since you mentioned that you're in a hurry, I'll get straight to the point. This list contains everything our factory currently produces. The prices are marked on the back of each item."

Su Jiao scanned the list.

The canned vegetables and fruits were generally sold in cases of ten, so he selected two or three cases of canned meat as well.

"I'll calculate the total and settle the payment for you right away."

Brother Wang took the list and glanced over the quantities.

His expression immediately brightened.

He had initially assumed that a small retail order like this wouldn't amount to much. He hadn't expected Su Jiao to purchase so many products.

"All right."

He took out his phone and began calculating the total while instructing the workers to start loading the canned goods into the van.

There were quite a few differences between the various canned products.

For example, a case of canned fruit contained only six jars, but it was considerably more expensive than other canned goods.

A case of canned luncheon meat, on the other hand, contained twenty-four cans of a relatively standard size.

Although Su Jiao had selected a wide variety of products in substantial quantities, the van had a fairly good carrying capacity.

By the time the cargo compartment was full, only a few cases remained.

Su Jiao simply asked the workers to place those on the passenger seat.

"Since you're purchasing directly from our factory and the quantity is quite large, I'll give you the wholesale price."

Brother Wang finished calculating and showed him the total.

"That comes to 53,780 yuan. I'll even waive the remaining eighty yuan. If you need an invoice, we can provide one as well."

Su Jiao paid him immediately without requesting an invoice.

[BBGCD] Chapter 2

Buying so many things at once and having them delivered to his home would undoubtedly attract unwanted attention. Once the natural disaster began, that could lead to all sorts of trouble. He still needed to figure out where to redirect his deliveries.

Just then, the person in charge of the timber factory arrived. Su Jiao put the matter aside for the moment.

"Hello, my surname is Liu. What can I help you with?"

As soon as the middle-aged man approached, he offered Su Jiao a cigarette.

Su Jiao politely waved it away.

"I'd like to buy some slow-burning firewood, preferably tea-oil camellia wood or pine."

The middle-aged man stopped, then glanced at Su Jiao before smiling.

"Is it for the elderly in your family?"

Without waiting for an answer, he continued, "We have plenty of that kind of wood. If you don't mind the appearance, we also have some acacia and cypress. If you're planning to use it for a fire, cypress would be a good choice."

"Then let's start by loading some cypress wood. I have quite a lot to transport, so I'll probably need to make another trip this afternoon. I might have to come back twice tomorrow as well."

Su Jiao followed the man into the factory and drove the van inside.

"Don't worry. We may not have much else, but we've certainly got plenty of wood."

The cargo compartment of Su Jiao's van wasn't particularly large. He asked two workers at the factory to help load the timber. More than an hour later, the compartment was completely filled with bundles of wood scraps.

After paying, Su Jiao drove away. He stopped on a quiet, deserted stretch of road and transferred all the wood from the cargo compartment into his spatial storage.

He still had to deal with all those incoming packages.

After some searching online, he found several advertisements for small warehouse rentals. Eventually, his attention settled on a warehouse not far from where he had parked.

He drove the van straight there.

The warehouse wasn't in a particularly good location. It stood at the far end of a busy commercial street, where people were constantly coming and going. It was also quite small, with limited storage capacity.

However, Su Jiao only needed somewhere to receive his deliveries. This size would be more than enough.

After asking about the minimum rental period, he paid the owner for one week's temporary use. He didn't bother signing a contract.

He then changed the delivery address for all his online purchases to the warehouse.

Inside, he found some basic furniture, including tables and chairs. There was even an air conditioner.

Su Jiao closed the door, switched on the air conditioner, and began organizing the items in his spatial storage.

When he had first awakened, there had been an obvious barrier between him and his space. Now, accessing it had become easier, although the resistance was still noticeable.

He suspected that the problem was caused by insufficient energy in the surrounding air.

Once September 20 arrived, things should naturally improve. For now, the main difficulty was controlling the space.

Even manipulating objects inside it from the outside was exhausting. Su Jiao didn't expect that entering the space itself would suddenly allow him to hear what was happening in the outside world.

He focused his consciousness on the stored items and began rearranging them.

Fatigue quickly washed over him.

Su Jiao finally stopped and looked at the results. He had barely managed to organize one-tenth of the space.

He let out a quiet breath.

His stomach was growling again. It was time to eat.

There was a restaurant along the street, and Su Jiao casually chose a nearby breakfast shop. He ordered two bowls of noodles to take away and returned to the warehouse.

The excitement of being reborn had been overwhelming. After waking up, he had immediately thrown himself into shopping and preparing supplies. Now that he finally had a moment to rest, the hunger he had been ignoring came rushing back.

He was so hungry that he could practically swallow his tongue.

Su Jiao didn't even bother waiting for the food to cool. He ate more than half the bowl before pausing to take a drink of water.

His phone suddenly began vibrating and ringing on the table.

He picked it up and glanced at the caller ID.

The name meant nothing to him.

After so many years, Su Jiao had no desire to contact any of his former acquaintances. Besides, the first cold wave was approaching. He didn't have the time or energy to concern himself with other people's affairs.

He carefully searched through his memories. As far as he could remember, he had always been rather solitary and had never been particularly close to his relatives or friends.

With that in mind, he rejected the call without hesitation.

The person on the other end: ???

A moment later, a shocking text message appeared on his screen.

"Su Jiao! You're fired!!!"

Only then did he realize that the caller had been his boss.

Su Jiao yawned and casually added the number to his blacklist.

If they wanted to fire him, so be it.

He could simply quit. He had only a few more good days left in this peaceful world anyway. Was he really supposed to be afraid of losing his job?

These noodles were actually quite delicious. He should buy some more later.

No, perhaps it would be better to stock up on recipes, seasonings, and other cooking ingredients.

Wait. He had forgotten to buy seasonings!

He also needed to prepare more rice, flour, grains, and cooking oil.

The available farmland in his spatial storage was limited. There was no way it could produce enough food for two people.

By the afternoon, his plans had expanded once again. In addition to receiving deliveries at the warehouse and making another trip to the timber factory, he now had to visit the grain and oil market.

After dinner, Su Jiao opened his shopping app and browsed for a while. He confirmed that same-city deliveries wouldn't arrive until the following day.

Satisfied with that arrangement, he happily drove the van to the grain and oil market.

The grain and oil market in City H was enormous. It served as a distribution center for several surrounding cities, so even though it was already past two in the afternoon, the place remained bustling with activity.

Su Jiao drove slowly through the market, looking around before finally stopping in front of a shop with a particularly spacious and well-organized storefront.

His van wasn't particularly large, but it was still a commercial vehicle. Seeing him pull up, the shop owner immediately recognized that he might have a substantial order.

A middle-aged woman hurried out to greet him.

"Young man, what would you like to buy? Just tell Auntie. I've got everything you need!"

As she spoke, her eyes kept drifting toward Su Jiao's head. She couldn't help admiring his striking golden hair.

She had always thought that young people with dyed yellow hair looked unreliable and lacked a certain maturity. But this young man was different. Despite his unusual hair color, he was surprisingly handsome. At first glance, he even seemed like a well-behaved young man.

Of course, none of those thoughts interfered with her business.

When Su Jiao explained that he wanted to buy seasonings and staple foods, the woman immediately pulled out a thick stack of papers from behind the counter.

"Here, take a look. If you need anything, just put a check mark beside the item and write down how much you want."

The list was filled with all sorts of products. Su Jiao was almost overwhelmed by the variety.

He glanced through the first page before looking up.

"Auntie, if I order several different items from this list, how long would it take you to get everything ready?"

The middle-aged woman smiled cheerfully.

"That's easy! As long as we have the products in stock, I can get everything ready and loaded into your vehicle right away."

People who had worked in the grain and oil market for years were accustomed to handling complicated orders. Even if seven or eight customers requested different products simultaneously, she could still manage everything in an orderly manner.

Seeing how confident she was, Su Jiao picked up a pen.

He carefully went through the familiar items, marking everything he thought he might need and writing down the quantities beside each one.

Once he finished the first page, he handed it to the shop owner.

"Could you start preparing these first? I'll continue looking through the rest."

The woman took the list and quickly scanned it. After confirming the items, she immediately got to work.

There was an enormous variety of goods in the grain and oil market, although most of them were related to food and cooking ingredients.

Apart from the usual rice, flour, grains, and cooking oil, there were countless seasonings, both common and uncommon.

Having lived through the apocalypse for so long, Su Jiao could barely remember what some of those seasonings tasted like.

But thinking about the two bowls of noodles he had eaten earlier that day, he decided to buy plenty of them.

After all, there was little chance he would be able to produce his own seasonings. Once the apocalypse arrived, food would become too precious to waste on anything other than basic necessities.

The next items on his list were various beans and semi-prepared foods.

Su Jiao purchased a large quantity of beans. They could be used to prepare all sorts of dishes, and when stored properly, they would also last a considerable amount of time.

After selecting the various types of cooking oil, rice, and flour, he moved on to the remaining items: seeds.

Seeds didn't take up much space. However, the extreme temperatures after the apocalypse would make cultivation incredibly difficult. Only a small number of plants would survive, and even his spatial farmland couldn't guarantee that every seed would grow successfully.

That was why the quantities he wrote beside the seeds were particularly large.

The shop owner was stunned when she saw the numbers.

She glanced at Su Jiao but didn't ask why he needed so many seeds.

At the end of the day, she was simply running a business. As long as customers came to buy things and she made a profit, there was no reason to question them.

Su Jiao noticed her curious gaze but didn't bother explaining himself.

What he had said earlier wasn't an excuse. Although he wasn't buying huge quantities of every individual product, the combined order would easily fill the van's cargo compartment. Quite a few items would even have to be squeezed into the passenger seat.

"Young man, I've got everything ready. How would you like to pay?"

The shop owner clapped her hands, then instructed the young worker who had been helping her load the goods to step aside. She wiped the dust from her hands on the apron around her waist.

Su Jiao glanced at his phone.

"Where's your payment QR code? I'll just scan it."

The woman immediately agreed and led him to the cashier's counter.

A QR code was stuck to the glass, although several items placed nearby partially blocked it from view.

While Su Jiao scanned the code, the shop owner grabbed the calculator beside her and quickly worked out the total based on the marked items and quantities.

She then pushed both the calculated bill and the original list toward him.

"Take a look and make sure everything's correct."

Su Jiao didn't refuse.

He still had quite a bit of money, but that didn't mean he was willing to overpay.

The shop owner had been in the business for many years. Whatever else people might say, she certainly knew how to handle accounts.

After checking the figures and confirming that everything was correct, Su Jiao scanned the payment code and transferred nearly 100,000 yuan.

Apart from the house, he had less than 500,000 yuan in total.

After spending nearly 100,000 yuan here, along with the money he had already used to purchase firewood and supplies through the shopping apps, he still had a little over 300,000 yuan left.

With that, his preparations were more or less complete.

Su Jiao finally felt some of the weight lifting from his shoulders.

He drove away from the grain and oil market, found a secluded spot, and transferred all the purchases into his spatial storage.

Then he headed back toward the timber factory.

[BBGCD] Chapter 1

Night was when fear came most easily. Pedestrians passed by, coming and going, yet they had long since forgotten the instinctive warning that something was terribly wrong.

Su Jiao didn't know when the moon had risen. Its pale light spilled through the window, casting a gentle glow across the bed.

The young man sleeping there looked no older than twenty-one or twenty-two. His tousled golden hair framed a delicate face. He shifted slightly in his sleep, an image of peaceful innocence.

But the beautiful dream soon turned into a nightmare.

His slender fingers suddenly clutched at his chest. Pain seized his body, twisting his features as he struggled in his sleep.

The moonlight seemed to linger a little longer, silently watching as the young man gradually succumbed to the pain.

The clock continued to tick. Dawn approached, and the moonlight could stay no longer. Reluctantly, it withdrew from the room.

In a daze, Su Jiao felt himself lying on a soft bed. Warmth slowly seeped into his body, a sensation he hadn't experienced in a very long time.

His hand moved weakly beneath the quilt. His eyelashes fluttered before revealing a pair of dark, unfocused eyes.

Where am I?

His mind felt like a rusted machine, struggling to turn after years of disuse.

The last memories of his previous life resurfaced.

He had died.

He had died while carrying the blueprint of hope, on his way to meet that man in hell.

Su Jiao let out a quiet breath. His gaze wandered around the warm, familiar room, and his brows gradually drew together.

Memories from the past suddenly flooded his mind. Yet the familiar surroundings only deepened his confusion.

He remembered dying in the forty-seventh year of the Age of Natural Disasters.

And this was the house he had lived in before the disaster began. Ever since that year, Su Jiao had never returned. He had left this place without hesitation, following that man.

After so many years of devastation, there was no way the house should have remained exactly as he remembered it.

Sunlight streamed through the window.

Su Jiao lifted a corner of the quilt and slowly lowered his delicate, pale feet to the floor. The cool temperature sent a faint shiver through him, helping to clear his muddled thoughts.

He gradually made his way into the sunlight.

The warmth touched his skin, and he couldn't help closing his eyes. It was a feeling he had almost forgotten.

An idea slowly took shape in his mind.

Leaning lazily against the floor-to-ceiling window, Su Jiao basked in the sunlight. Crystal-clear tears gathered at the corners of his eyes before tracing the contours of his face and falling to the floor.

Rebirth.

How many people had dreamed of such a thing?

And yet, somehow, it had happened to him.

Su Jiao remained by the window, tears falling silently. It was as though he were finally allowing himself to grieve for all the suffering and hardships he had endured over those countless years.

After a long while, the young man slowly straightened up from the floor. He spotted his phone near the bedside table and reached for it.

The fingerprint lock recognized him immediately.

The familiar screen lit up, displaying a collection of apps that had long since become foreign to him.

Su Jiao first checked the date and time.

September 16, 2037. A little past nine in the morning.

The Age of Natural Disasters would begin at three o'clock in the afternoon on September 20 of that year.

There was still time.

Su Jiao steadied his breathing, and his thoughts began racing.

The Age of Natural Disasters was also known as the Age of Extreme Cold. From the moment the disaster began, temperatures would never again rise above twenty degrees Celsius.

The emergence of a new energy wave brought more than just supernatural abilities. It also caused widespread damage to electrical appliances, rendering countless devices useless.

In his previous life, Su Jiao hadn't joined the large groups of survivors for various reasons. As a result, he knew little about when new tools and equipment had first appeared.

He had, however, communicated with several search-and-rescue teams. Based on what they had told him, those tools had probably emerged around the twenty-third year of the disaster.

His own ability was rather unusual. At least it meant he wouldn't have to worry about growing food. However, gathering other supplies would be difficult, especially with so little time left.

Thinking about his spatial ability, Su Jiao suddenly remembered something.

Some people had once suspected that supernatural abilities were connected to the human soul.

Now that he had been reborn, would the ability he possessed in his previous life have come back with him?

With that thought, Su Jiao began probing his consciousness.

To his surprise, yet somehow not entirely unexpectedly, his spatial ability had indeed returned with him.

However, it felt as though a thin membrane separated them. Reconnecting with it was proving somewhat difficult.

Su Jiao concentrated on the space.

It resembled a two-story building, with a total area of approximately 150 square meters. The first floor was divided into several rooms, while the second floor consisted of an open plot of land.

At the moment, the entire space was barren. Everything he had collected in his previous life had disappeared.

Su Jiao didn't feel particularly disappointed.

Even if the space had vanished completely, being given another chance at life was already worth everything.

A rumbling sound came from his stomach.

Su Jiao withdrew his consciousness from the space and began searching through the room. After finding his bank card and keys, he headed outside.

The house had originally belonged to his grandparents. It was a two-story building in Xiangyang, with the upper and lower floors connected internally.

The entrance to the second floor had been sealed off, leaving the ground floor and the courtyard as the only way in and out.

The courtyard wasn't particularly large. There was enough room to park a car, with a small flower garden occupying the remaining space.

Su Jiao sat in the driver's seat for a while, trying to recall the driving rules he had learned before the disaster.

Once he had backed out of the courtyard and closed the gate, he followed the navigation system to a nearby supermarket.

The neighborhood was mainly inhabited by middle-aged residents in their forties and fifties. Fortunately, there was a large supermarket nearby, just a short distance from the residential community.

Su Jiao parked the car and entered the supermarket, casually picking up a shopping cart.

The items sold there were all familiar everyday necessities. However, he couldn't quite remember the supermarket's layout, so he simply followed a woman who was shopping for vegetables.

Fresh green vegetables were neatly arranged on the shelves. Under the bright lights, their leaves looked vibrant and healthy.

Su Jiao stared at the display for a moment, suddenly finding himself reluctant to reach for anything.

Even with his spatial ability, growing vegetables after the disaster had never been easy. The harsh conditions severely limited the number of plants that could survive. Those that did grow often lacked proper nourishment.

He remembered how precious fresh vegetables had become.

His breathing grew slightly uneven.

After pausing to steady himself, Su Jiao began placing vegetables into his cart. He picked up a little of everything that caught his interest.

Afraid of attracting suspicion from the other shoppers, he deliberately kept the quantities modest. Even so, the sheer variety of vegetables in his cart drew several curious glances.

After spending so many years in the Age of Natural Disasters, he had perhaps grown thicker-skinned.

Noticing the occasional stares, Su Jiao simply lowered his eyes and continued shopping without a word.

Eventually, the cart became so full that he had no choice but to tear himself away from the vegetable section.

The meat section was right next to it. Su Jiao picked up several varieties of prepared and semi-prepared meat products before moving on.

The supermarket was enormous. He wandered around for a while before finally locating the household necessities section.

After gathering a large quantity of basic supplies, Su Jiao paid for everything and left.

He loaded the purchases into the passenger seat of his car. Once inside, he casually reached out, and all the items disappeared into the first floor of his spatial storage.

There were still plenty of things he needed.

Su Jiao checked the time, then fumbled with his phone until he found the shopping apps. If he remembered correctly, those platforms could provide almost anything he needed.

Most things could be dealt with later.

What he really wanted now were seeds.

He had no idea where to buy seeds in person, so searching online seemed like the easiest option.

The search results displayed countless products. Besides the vegetables he wanted, there were also various flower seeds.

Su Jiao selected several shops specializing in vegetable seeds. He bought multiple packets of each variety, then moved on to other stores.

Vegetable seeds weren't enough. He also needed medicinal plant seeds, rice seeds, and wheat seeds.

After spending more than a thousand yuan, Su Jiao finally stopped his increasingly reckless shopping spree.

He leaned back and considered what else he needed.

Food supplies should be manageable, especially with seeds available for future cultivation.

What about clothing?

Right. He needed plenty of warm clothes and winter supplies.

Temperatures during the Age of Natural Disasters would be extremely low. His current body hadn't undergone the physical conditioning he had experienced in his previous life. Without proper protection against the cold, he could easily fall ill.

And then there was that man.

The figure who had once sheltered him from the wind and rain had gradually faded in his memories over the years.

Su Jiao understood better than anyone that relationships changed with experience. If he altered the events of his previous life, there was no guarantee that he and that man would end up together again.

But there was one thing he knew for certain.

He couldn't bear to experience that person's death a second time.

His thoughts grew tangled. His eyes stung, and he quickly wiped away the tears before they could fall.

Su Jiao changed the search terms on his phone to winter cotton-padded clothing.

After thinking it over, he decided that wasn't enough. He added another keyword indicating extreme temperatures.

There were plenty of clothes advertised as suitable for temperatures of minus twenty degrees or even lower. Most of the styles, however, looked rather ordinary.

Su Jiao checked the sizes and ordered one set based on his memory of the other man's measurements. Then he ordered another set in his own size.

Good-quality winter coats weren't cheap. This batch of purchases alone cost him tens of thousands of yuan.

As he continued browsing, his attention was suddenly drawn to a trench coat.

His fingertip paused over the screen.

After a moment, he replaced all the search terms with trench coat.

Whether thickened or unlined, he ordered twenty sets in each of the two sizes.

Only after purchasing all the clothes and shoes he could think of did Su Jiao turn his attention to something else.

He began searching for factories around City H.

There were plenty of factories in the surrounding area. After browsing through several options, he finally settled on a timber factory.

If he remembered correctly, different types of wood burned for different lengths of time. A timber factory would have a wide selection, so he could purchase a large quantity while he still had the opportunity.

He planned to reserve only a bathroom and a bedroom on the first floor of his spatial storage.

The remaining two rooms could be used to store firewood. He could also set aside part of the first floor for livestock, giving himself another source of food during the chaotic early days of the disaster.

Once he had made up his mind, Su Jiao acted immediately.

He drove to a car rental shop and rented a small van.

"I'll return it before five this evening. I'll rent it again tomorrow."

He needed to save as much money as possible.

The rental company's staff didn't finish work until six-thirty, so returning the vehicle before five wouldn't be a problem.

After searching online for suitable firewood, Su Jiao quickly understood what he needed. By the time he arrived at the timber factory, he already had a fairly clear idea of which types of wood to purchase.

After getting out of the van, he approached the security guard at the entrance.

"Uncle, who should I speak to about buying some leftover timber?"

The security guard was momentarily dazzled by his striking golden hair. He stared for a second before finally responding.

"Ah, well... I'll call someone in charge for you. Just wait here."

Su Jiao nodded.

While waiting, he opened the shopping app on his phone again.

After spending so many years living through the disaster, he had almost forgotten some of the everyday necessities of ordinary life.

He casually tapped the homepage and began browsing, adding all sorts of things that seemed useful to his cart.

By the time the security guard returned to tell him that the person in charge would be arriving shortly, Su Jiao finally stopped his shopping spree.

He glanced through his pending orders and frowned.

There were already dozens of packages waiting to be shipped.

Su Jiao stared at the screen, suddenly wondering whether it would be possible to change the delivery addresses of all those orders.
